Ashland City, TN : Domestic assault suspect injured after crash in Cheatham County on Tuesday morning, July 1, 2014

A Cheatham County man wanted for assaulting his wife was seriously injured after crashing his car during a pursuit with authorities Tuesday morning.

The wreck occurred just before 11 a.m. in the 3000 block of Petway Road, southwest of Ashland City.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol said Daniel Dye travelled off the road at a high rate of speed and crashed in the front yard of Julie Grillot.

"He came in through my yard right here, took down my mailbox, and went through the headwalls," Grillot told News 2.

Dye, 58, reportedly led authorities on the chase, which crossed into Dickson County, to avoid possible domestic violence charges.

He is accused of crashing into his wife's vehicle in Charlotte, Tenn. on Highway 49 East and forcing her off the roadway.

Authorities said he then forced the woman into his own car before fleeing with deputies not far behind.

At one point, Dye pulled over in the middle of the chase and his wife managed to escape unharmed.
Shortly after, however, Dye took off again, eventually plowing into Grillot's front yard.

Dye is now hospitalized at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville after he was airlifted from the crash scene.

He was last listed in critical condition.

Dye faces charges in both Cheatham and Dickson counties for aggravated assault, kidnapping, violation of an order of protection, among others.
