Holmdel crash injures Red Bank woman, 74

Firefighters rescued a 74-year-old Red Bank resident who was trapped in her vehicle after it overturned following two-car crash last week, police said Tuesday.

A vehicle driven by Anna Burns, 74, of Red Bank and a vehicle driven by Linda Wang, 26, of Holmdel, collided at 9:35 p.m. Feb. 21 a Route 35 south just past Gardenia Drive, according to a statement by Lt. Michael Pigott, the patrol division commander and a spokesman for the police department.
Pigott said the vehicle driven by Wang was traveling in the left lane when the driver lost control and struck the rear and side of the vehicle driven by Burns, which was traveling in the right lane.

The contact forced both vehicles off of the roadway, he said.Burns’ vehicle overturned and came to rest on the passenger side, he said.Wang’s vehicle came to rest in a snow bank facing north, he said.Holmdel Fire Company No. 2 responded to the scene and had to cut Burns out of the vehicle using a hydraulic extrication tool.
Burns was taken to Riverview Hospital by the Holmdel First Aid Squad, police said. Her condition was not available.
Wang was not injured, police said.
