MILLBRAE, CA : Fatal I-280 crash on Tuesday, 21st January, 2020

A man died Tuesday afternoon when his pickup truck crashed and burst into flames along southbound Intestate 280 in Millbrae, the California Highway Patrol said.

The solo-vehicle collision was reported about 1:50 p.m. just north of Trousdale Drive.

CHP Officer Art Montiel said the pickup truck veered off the roadway, struck a tree and a light pole, and caught fire. The driver was burned by the fire and died at the scene.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation. Montiel noted the roadway was wet at the time.
