Seattle, WA : Woman serious injuries after a car crash on Sandpoint Way Northeast, near Northeast 117th Street on Monday afternoon, Nov 2, 2015

A car crash in Northeast Seattle Monday afternoon sent one woman to the hospital with serious injuries and prompted a road closure.

The Seattle Fire Department said it had to extricate her from the vehicle after she hit a tree on Sandpoint Way Northeast, near Northeast 117th Street.

Sandpoint Way Northeast was temporarily blocked in both directions near the crash site, according to department tweets.

At 6:15 p.m., a spokeswoman for the fire department said the road was re-opened.
