Authorities say a 27-year-old man fleeing from police has died after her wrecked his motorcycle into an oncoming unmarked police car.
The North Carolina Highway Patrol said that troopers were trying to pull Alex Gibbs over for speeding on Business 40 in Winston-Salem around 1 a.m. Sunday when he refused to stop.
As troopers chased Gibbs, authorities say he lost control of his motorcycle, crossed the center line of a surface street and hit the unmarked Winston-Salem police car head on.
Authorities say Gibbs died at the hospital while the officer in the unmarked car was treated for minor injuries.
Troopers are investigating the wreck.
