Van Wert, Oh : 2 Van Wert men die in fiery crash on Tuesday, 13th November 2018
Two Van Wert, Ohio, men died in a fiery crash Tuesday afternoon, the Ohio State Highway Patrol said today.
James M. Patterson, 36, and his passenger Jeremy A. Shults, 30, were driving east on U.S. 30 near Delphos, Ohio, around 2:55 p.m. when Patterson lost control of his pickup truck, crashing into a semi going west, the highway patrol at Lima said in a statement.
Patterson's truck burst into flames after the crash, the statement said. It said both men died at the scene.
The semi's driver, William D. Wolfe, 79, of Westcliffe, Colorado, and his passenger, Linda M. Rinda-Wolfe, 61, were treated for minor injuries and released, the highway patrol said.
It said the semi was carrying sulfuric acid, a hazardous material, but no leakage was detected. One lane of the highway was closed following the crash.
Seat belts were worn by everyone involved in the crash, and alcohol or drugs are not suspected to be a factor, the highway patrol said. The crash remains under investigation.
