Durango, CO : Five people were injured in a two-vehicle crash at U.S. Highway 160 west of Mercy Regional Medical Center On Friday, May 20th, 2016

Five people went to the hospital Friday – two of them seriously injured – after a two-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 160 west of Mercy Regional Medical Center.
Both directions of Highway 160 through the Grandview area were closed for about 20 minutes after the 3:55 p.m. crash, and traffic was snarled in the area during rush hour.

“A black GMC Jimmy was making a left-hand turn from County Road 232 to westbound Highway 160,” Colorado State Patrol Trooper Sean Schlessman said. “And a school bus in the right-hand lane of eastbound traffic had blinking yellow lights in

preparation to stop. A Dodge pickup pulling a trailer was passing the school bus in the left-hand lane.”

The pickup truck, driven by a 26-year-old Colorado man, collided with the front end of the GMC, pushing it into the center of the road and the westbound lanes. The school bus was not hit.

The driver of the pickup was taken to Mercy as a precaution, Schlessman said.

The female driver of the GMC, 25, and her three passengers, men aged 24, 27 and 34, were also taken to Mercy. The driver and one passenger were in serious condition and one passenger had moderate injuries.

“I guess you’d call the fourth one minor injuries,” Schlessman said. “They were all local. I haven’t filed paperwork or charges yet, so I’m not releasing any names.”
