ORMOND BEACH, FL : Florida woman dies in crash after celebrating 21st birthday on Tuesday, December 20th 2016

Authorities say Carly Bowie was 10 minutes from home when she called her parents on her way home from her 21st birthday celebration with friends.

But soon after the early Tuesday morning phone call she apparently lost control of her pickup truck, crashed through a bridge wall and fell into the Tomoka River in central Florida. Ormond Beach police say the truck was submerged in 10 feet of water. Her body was found Wednesday after a multi-agency search of the river.

A police report says the truck was speeding in a 35 mph zone when Bowie failed to negotiate a curve.

Donna Bowie tells the Daytona Beach News-Journal (http://bit.ly/2hfXuY5 ) her daughter had spent the evening at a friend’s home with a group of friends she had not seen since high school.
