Hazlehurst, MS : Driver identified in deadly 18-wheeler accident on Friday morning, February 10, 2017

The man killed Friday morning when his pickup truck collided with an 18-wheeler has been identified as 54-year-old Tony McKinley of Natchez. The accident occurred on I-55 at the Hazlehurst exit.

Corporal Eric Henry of the Mississippi Highway Patrol said the wreck happened around 6:50 a.m. A Ford F-150 was driving southbound on I-55 when McKinley lost control and crossed over the median into the northbound lane.

He clipped the front bumper of an 18-wheeler that was traveling north on I-55.

The pick-up flipped into a ditch and ejected McKinley where he died instantly. He was not wearing a seat belt.

There were two people inside the 18-wheeler. The driver only had minor injuries and was taken to Hardy Wilson Hospital.
