PALMER, AK : Palmer man killed in motorcycle crash on Wednesday, August 23, 2017
Alaska State Troopers continue their investigation into a Monday evening motorcycle-vehicle collision that claimed the life of a 34-year-old Palmer man.
According to an online trooper dispatch, Caleb Bennett was operating his 1999 Suzuki motorcycle on Wolverine Road at the intersection of Dewachen Road just before 7 p.m. when he failed to negotiate a curve and swerved into the oncoming lane of traffic. His motorcycle was struck by an eastbound 2013 Ford Escape driven by a 53-year-old Palmer woman.
According to troopers, passersby initiated CPR on Bennett, who was later pronounced dead at the scene. Police say Bennett was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. Alcohol is not believed to be a factor, however troopers said speed is believed to be involved.
The State Medical Examiner’s Office took possession of the body and an autopsy is planned. Troopers are asking anyone witnessing the crash to contact them at 352-5401.
