A university in Arkansas says one of their students was killed in a crash involving five cars and three tractor-trailers early Saturday morning on Interstate 71 in Oldham County.

A press release from Harding University says Nicholas Smith, 21, of Buford, Georgia, was traveling to Syracuse, New York, for a student-organized mission trip. Two other Harding students riding with Smith were also injured, according to the school. One passenger was flown to University of Louisville Hospital for surgery and is currently stable and recovering. Another was treated and released.

Smith's Professor, Scott Adair tells us he was always helping others.

"He wouldn't receive any attention, or any credit for it. He just did it out of his love for people, out of his commitment to Christ," Adair said.

Nicholas's Facebook page shows a long list of friends. Many changing their profile pictures to one of him.

"He was outstanding. He was unassuming, respectful, responsible," Adair described.

Smith was an honor student set to graduate this May.

Adair says Nicholas would only want one thing. "Nicholas would appreciate prayers for his loved ones."
