Defiance, OH : Killed was Miriam Hedges, 86, killed in two-vehicle crash at Ohio 15 and Watson Road on Saturday evening, May 14, 2016

A Defiance woman was killed in a two-vehicle crash Saturday evening at Ohio 15 and Watson Road, just south of Defiance.

Killed was Miriam Hedges, 86. Injured were Michael Stumbo, 36, Defiance, and his passenger, Jada Stumbo.

According to the Ohio Highway Patrol, at 6:28 p.m., a car driven by Hedges was eastbound on Watson Road and failed to yield for a southbound pickup truck driven by Stumbo on Ohio 15, causing a collision.

Hedges and the Stumbos were transported to Mercy Defiance Hospital by the Defiance Fire Department. The Stumbos were treated for minor injuries and released. Hedges was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Troopers reported that all of the victims were wearing safety belts.

The Defiance County Sheriff’s Office assisted at the scene.

Damage was heavy to both vehicles. The accident remains under investigation.
