Wasco County , OR : 41-year-old killed in four vehicle crash after driver lost control of her car while driving on Highway 26 over patches of ice on Friday night, December 5th 2014
A 4 vehicle crash last night after a driver lost control of her car while driving on Highway 26 over patches of ice.
Just after 4 p.m. yesterday, 41-year-old Kimberly Meeker, of Madras, was driving a blue 2005 Dodge Caravan with two juveniles eastbound on Highway 26 when she hit the ice and crossed into the westbound lanes where a Volvo hit the Caravan. The Caravan was hit again by a silver 2002 Toyota Sequoia and then a fourth car, a black 2005 Saturn, hit the rear bumper of the Volvo before crashing into the guardrail.
The driver of the Caravan, Meeker, died on scene while one of the juvenile passengers was taken by Life Flight to a Portland hospital with serious injuries. The front seat juvenile passenger was taken by ambulance to a Portland hospital with injuries.
The passengers in the Volvo were taken to a Madras hospital as a precaution. None of the other occupants in the vehicles reported injuries at the time of the crash.
The driver of the Toyota Sequoia was taken by Life Flight to a Portland Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Ice was the likely cause of this crash.
Oregon State Police and ODOT responded to assist with the crash along with Hoodland Fire and Life Flight.
