TRUCKEE, CA : I-80, Hwy. 50 traffic impacted due to spin outs, crashes in Sierra on Saturday, 4th May 2024

Northern Californians trying to drive up to see a bit of snow Saturday weren’t able to get much higher in elevation than Colfax due to spin outs, crashes and more.

“It’s packed a wallop,” said Jeremy Linder with Caltrans District 3.

Chain controls started on Interstate 80 as early as 11 a.m. Saturday and by 3 p.m., traffic was brought to a full halt.
