MINNEOLA, FL : Minneola man killed in a crash on U.S. 27 at Oak Valley Boulevard on Saturday, 25th August 2018

A 57-year-old Minneola man was killed Saturday afternoon when a driver reportedly cut in front of his motorcycle on U.S. 27 at Oak Valley Boulevard, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Thomas Knight was taken to South Lake Hospital, where he died of his injuries.

According to FHP, Knights was traveling south on US 27 as 31-year-old Jeffrey Smith, of Lakeland, was traveling east in a 2017 Toyota on Oak Valley Boulevard. FHP said Smith turned right and traveled onto southbound US 27 and into the path of Knight’s motorcycle. The front of the motorcycle hit the rear of Smith’s Toyota and Knight was ejected off the motorcycle.

Smith was taken to South Lake Hospital with minor injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.
