Lawrence, MA : Derry two-car crash injures four on Friday, 26th August, 2016

A two-car accident between a sedan and a pick-up truck sent four people to the hospital Friday afternoon.

Police and fire officials rushed to the intersection of Warner Hill and Island Pond roads after firefighters at the nearby station heard the accident occur at 2:38 p.m., Fire Capt. Shawn Haggart said in a statement.

One vehicle struck the side of another, said Battalion Chief David Hoffman. The collision trapped two people in the sedan. They needed to be extricated by the Fire Department, Haggart said.

Four people were taken to Parkland Medical Center. At least one had potentially serious injuries, Haggart said.

A fifth person involved refused medical attention.

Island Pond Road was closed between Warner Hill and Drew roads while emergency officials responded to the accident.

The crash is under investigation.
