Mooresville, NC : One person died in testing race car crash on Saturday March 5 2016
Mooresville, North Carolina
One person died while testing a race car in a Rowan County crash, according to North Carolina State Highway Patrol.
Troopers say one person was thrown from a race car on Performance Road in Mooresville Saturday just before 11 a.m. The crash happened near the Mooresville drag strip.
It appears the car went off the road and hit a ditch causing it to roll over. The race car had a five point harness, but not a traditional seat belt.
The driver of the car was from Canada, according to troopers. He was reportedly test driving repairs made to the car and was planning on taking the car back to Canada.
Officials have not released the name of the victim and say they don’t know what led to the crash.
