CADDO PARISH, LA : Crash closes Highway 1 in Caddo Parish on Thursday, 25th January 2024

An early morning crash that caused a pickup truck to be stuck beneath the cargo bed of a big rig forced the closure of Highway 1 Friday morning.

Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Deputies have blocked traffic on Highway 1 in both directions and are rerouting traffic.

Few details are available at this time, but someone on the scene reported seeing a person being removed from the scene on a stretcher. Deputies on the scene say dense fog and low visibility were major factors and the driver of the semi-truck was cited for failure to yield.

The driver of the pickup truck was injured and brought to a local hospital. Deputies had to use the jaws of life to extract him from the vehicles. The driver of the 18-wheeler was not injured in the crash.
