Queens, NY : A 40-year-old woman is dead and a 9-year-old girl is seriously injured in a crash at South Ozone Park On Sunday, July 17th, 2016

The NYPD says a 40-year-old woman is dead and a 9-year-old girl is seriously injured following a crash in Queens.

Authorities say the crash happened in South Ozone Park just after 5 p.m. Sunday when the driver of a BMW sport utility vehicle ignored a stop sign and struck a Toyota Corolla. Investigators say the BMW hit three parked

vehicles before coming to a stop. The driver fled the scene.

Police say officers the woman and child were rear passengers in the Toyota and were ejected from the vehicle. Investigators say Zaalika Rasool was pronounced dead at the scene and the girl was taken to Long Island

Jewish Hospital in critical condition.

Rescue crews removed two other people from the Toyota and took a passenger from the BMW to a hospital.
