NEW YORK, NY : Car crashes, splits apart; 3 killed, 10 injured on Wednesday, 31st August, 2016
Police say a sedan hit a barrier and split in half on a New York City highway, causing a chain reaction involving several vehicles that killed three people and injured 10 others.
Police now say Wednesday's wreck involved seven vehicles on the Long Island Expressway in Maspeth.
They say the sedan was going at a high rate of speed when it hit the barrier. An Acura then struck the front portion of the sedan. Police say three of the five occupants of the sedan were killed; the other two were taken to a hospital. One is in critical but stable condition, the other in stable condition.
The driver of the Acura refused medical attention.
The collision caused a dump truck to collide with five other vehicles that were stopped due to the first crash. All those occupants are in stable condition.
