BERKELEY, MO : Two killed when car rear-ends flatbed truck on shoulder of I-70 near airport on Wednesday, 5th October 2016
Two people were killed when their car crashed into the back of a flatbed truck parked on the shoulder of Interstate 70 near the airport, police said Wednesday.
Major Art Jackson of the Berkeley Police Department said the victims were young adults, both male.
Jackson said neither victim had identification on him, and authorities are hoping the medical examiner's office can identify them.
The crash, about midnight Tuesday, was along westbound I-70 near Air Cargo Road.
Jackson said he wasn't sure if the flatbed truck had its flashing lights on, or whether it was on the shoulder to assist another motorist.
The car that struck the flatbed was a Chevrolet Impala.
Community firefighters were dispatched at about 12:20 a.m.
Westbound lanes were closed for hours while the wreckage was cleared and investigators did their work. The Missouri Department of Transportation said the highway reopened at about 4:45 a.m.
