Mount Pleasant, Tennessee
An 18-year-old girl was killed in a single-car accident on Highway 166 near Mount Pleasant, according to the Tennessee Highway Patrol. The THP said Beverly Ann Orban, 18, was driving her 1998 Honda southbound on Highway 166. While negotiating a right curve, Orban went off the right side of the road, overcorrected, then went off the left side of the road where she struck a tree.THP said the wreck occurred near Old Gibson Hollow Road just outside the Mount Pleasant city limits."These kids are so close, and this is the third year in a row that we've lost a teen in the community to something tragic like this," said Orban's youth pastor from Acts Family Church, Mark Johnson. "This community's just had a lot, had a lot."Saturday morning, hundreds of Mt. Pleasant High students gathered for a memorial at the school. "So many of them stood up in the memorial today and talked about how Beverly was there for them," said Johnson. "Some of them even said things like, 'She saved my life.' She was there in a troublesome time."A senior with the class of 2014, friends said she played softball, took part in Fellowship of Christian Athletes and was a water girl for the football team."She spent time trying to learn how to relieve cramping so that she could help the football team play," said Johnson. "One of her favorite verses was found in Samuel where God wasn't looking at the outward man but was looking at the heart. That was her favorite verse because she never looked at an individual's outward appearance or made a judgement. She was all about their heart and making a connection heart to heart. She was so loved, and she's going to be missed terribly."
