Topsham, ME : A 90-year-old Maine woman was killed after head-on crash into a tractor-trailer at State Route 196 on Wednesday, 31st August, 2016

Police say a 90-year-old Maine woman was killed after the car she was riding in slammed head-on into a tractor-trailer along state Route 196.

The collision happened around 3:30 p.m. Wednesday near Rt. 196’s intersection with Harmony Hill Road in Topsham. A third vehicle was also involved in the accident.

Police say a chain reaction was set off when a GMC Envoy driven by a 32-year-old Lewiston man crossed the centerline and side-swiped the tractor-trailer.

The tractor-trailer then collided head-on with a Honda Civic driven by 61-year-old Barbara Brusila. Her passenger, 90-year-old Jean Brusila, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Barbara Brusila and the tractor-trailer driver both suffered non-life threatening injuries.

Topsham police are investigating the crash.
