Augusta, GA : Man walking on highway in Augusta struck and killed by car on Tuesday, January 3, 2017

Authorities say a man wearing dark clothing and walking on Bobby Jones Expressway in Augusta has been struck by a car and killed.

The Augusta Chronicle reports that the collision happened around 2:15 a.m. Tuesday.

Richmond Count Coroner Mark Bowen said the unidentified victim was walking eastbound in a darkened stretch of the highway when he was hit by an eastbound 2003 Honda Accord.

Few other details were immediately available early Tuesday.
