Springfield, IL : Monmouth man injured in rollover crash on Illinois 97 on Tuesday, 8th September, 2020

A Monmouth man was injured in a single-vehicle crash on Illinois 97 just northwest of Springfield Tuesday morning.

William Martin, 67, was eastbound on the road east of Bradfordton Road when the Pontiac he was driving left the roadway to the right, rolled over and struck a fence.

A press release put out by the Illinois State Police didn’t detail the extent of Martin’s injuries or which hospital he was taken to. A spokesperson for ISP District 9 didn’t return a phone call from The State Journal-Register.

A passenger in the car, Margaret Martin, 56, also of Monmouth, was uninjured.

The rollover occurred just before 10 a.m.

Sangamon County Sheriff’s deputies also responded to the crash site.

All lanes of the road were shut down for approximately 45 minutes during the traffic crash investigation.
