Douglas City, CA : Driver killed in Fatal rollover crash on Highway 299 near Tucker Hill Road on Wednesday, June 22, 2016

The driver of a car that rolled over an embankment died due to his injuries, said the California Highway Patrol.

The unidentified 78 year-old male driver was traveling eastbound on Highway 299, west of Union Hill Road in a 1995 Chevrolet Corvette around 10:31 a.m.

The car drifted off the road and traveled over the enbankment and landed on its roof in Weaver Creek, trapping the driver beneath the vehicle, according to the CHP.

First responders were able to remove the driver from the vehicle, but his identity is being withheld until the next of kin are notified.

It is unknown if alcohol or drugs were a factor in this collision and the investigation is ongoing at this time.
