Mt. Pleasant, MI : 18-year-old Central Michigan University student struck and killed by a hit-and-run crash near the school’s Mount Pleasant campus on Sunday, Nov 1, 2015

A Central Michigan University student was killed overnight in a hit-and-run accident south of the school’s campus, according to CMU.

The accident happened around midnight on Crawford Road near Concourse Drive.

The 18-year-old freshman was from Macomb and lived in Merrill Hall.

Police say he was walking toward campus with friends when he was hit. The car that hit him left the scene.

Tony Voisin, assistant vice president of student affairs, said the investigation is ongoing.

A search is underway for the driver.
