Two people were killed when their car ran off the road and struck a tree in northeast Charlotte Sunday morning.

Lockhart was driving a 2012 Dodge Challenger when he lost control and drove off the right side of the road, CMPD said. Officers said the vehicle then went down an embankment before striking a tree on the passenger side.
Speed is a factor in this crash, police say. Officers have not said whether alcohol was another factor.
