Ridgecrest, CA : CHP IDs victims of Thursday fatal Hwy 395 collision on Thursday, 29th March 2018
According to California Highway Patrol, the two people who died in Thursday’s head-on collision on Highway 395 were Ridgecrest residents, 70-year-old Jack Brown and 62-year-old Leslie Brown.
According to the CHP report, the Browns died at the scene of the incident south of Cuddeback Road after a Ford F-150 pickup truck collided with their Toyota Sienna.
The collision was reported just before 7:30 a.m.
“The driver of the Ford approached a crest in the roadway and initiated an unsafe pass by crossing the solid yellow line delineating the northbound lane,” the CHP report states. “The Ford entered the southbound lane, in the direct path of the Toyota. Both the Ford and the Toyota attempted to avoid a collision by driving to the west shoulder of US 395 where they collided head-on.”
The driver of the Ford pickup, William Courtney, 48, of Fullerton, was transported by air to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center. CHP continues to investigate but said that drugs or alcohol are not believed to be a contributing factor.
