BELFAIR, WA : 1 killed in crash on Highway 3 near Belfair on Friday, January 27th 2017

One person was killed Friday morning in a crash on Highway 3 near Belfair, the Washington State Patrol reported.

Troopers responded to the scene, about two miles north of Belfair near Lake Flora Road, at about 10:30 a.m. after receiving reports of a serious collision.

Two wrecked cars were found at the accident site. The driver of one vehicle was dead. The other was uninjured.

A preliminary investigation found that one car was heading south on Highway 3 as the other car tried to turn north onto the highway from an access road at a construction site. The driver of the car heading south was killed.

The driver of one car was a woman and the other was a man. Troopers didn't immediately say which of them was killed.

The highway reopened about 2:15 p.m.
