Just before 11 p.m. Thursday, one of the two cars racing north on the highway veered into oncoming traffic, striking two other cars. All four of the victims were transported to Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield after the crash, which required the use of hydraulic rescue tools and brought in first responders from three towns.
The Massachusetts State Police collision analysis and reconstruction team investigated the accident, which left a field of debris stretched across the highway, according to police. North Adams Ambulance Service, North Adams Fire, Williamstown Police, Williamstown Fire, Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts Police, and Adams Police all responded to assist North Adams Police.
