Wiggins, MS : Retired Wiggins city employee killed in crash on Friday afternoon, December 30, 2016

A retired Wiggins city employee was killed Friday afternoon when his truck left the roadway, hit a tree, and flipped.

Stone County Coroner Wayne Flurry identified the man killed in the single-vehicle accident as 61-year-old Michael Gill.

Flurry said Gill was driving his GMC pickup truck north on Hwy. 26 just before 2 p.m. when he started swerving off the road. A witness said Gill swerved off the highway twice before the fatal crash.

Units from the Wiggins Fire Department and Stone County Hospital Ambulance responded to the crash, but Gill was pronounced dead at the scene.
