JACKSONVILLE, FL : All lanes of I-295 reopen following deadly, 4 vehicle crash on Dames Point Bridge on Wednesday, 31st January 2024

A 50-year-old man died Wednesday morning in a crash on the Dames Point Bridge that shut down all lanes of I-295 northbound for hours during the heart of rush hour.

The Florida Highway Patrol said the man, who is from Hialeah, hit a concrete barrier wall with his car, which ended up disabled in the left lane, facing the center barrier.

A pickup truck headed northbound T-boned the car on the driver’s side, trapping the driver inside the car with critical injuries. The driver later died.

The 69-year-old driver of the pickup truck and his 43-year-old passenger, both from Jacksonville Beach, were not hurt.

All three men involved in the crash were wearing seat belts, according to the crash report.
