OAKLAND, CA : Motorcyclist killed, truck driver arrested in collision on Saturday, February 18th 2017
A motorcyclist was killed and a truck driver arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence after a Saturday night collision between the two vehicles, police said Sunday.
The name of the motorcyclist, a 31-year-old Pittsburg man, was not released pending notification of relatives, nor was the name of the truck driver. The collision happened about 11:08 p.m. Saturday at the intersection of International Boulevard and Auseon Avenue.
Police said a 2000 Dodge Ram truck was apparently driving eastbound on International when it began a turn onto the northbound lanes of Auseon and hit the motorcyclist who was riding a 2002 Harley Davidson westbound on International.
The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. The truck driver suffered injuries — police did not say what they were — in the collision and was determined to be under the influence of alcohol, police said. Police said it is unknown at this time if drugs were also a factor in the collision. The truck driver was arrested on suspicion of felony driving under the influence.
