Victorville,CA : 1 killed in multi-car crash on Palmdale Road on January, Wednesday 3rd 2018
Authorities said a man was killed in a crash involving multiple vehicles on Palmdale Road Wednesday evening.
Reported just after 5:30 p.m., the crash occurred at the intersection of Palmdale and Emerald roads. San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department officials confirmed one man died on scene, while four other people were injured.
According to Victorville Sheriff’s Station Deputy Jeff Dean, a white Chevy Equinox, a gray Honda Accord, a burgundy Lexus and a black Toyota Celica were involved in the crash. Specific details were scarce due to the ongoing investigation, but Dean said the incident began when one vehicle rear-ended another.
“That vehicle then lost control, struck a vehicle, and was broadsided by another vehicle,” Dean said.
The Equinox and Celica ended up on dirt shoulders off the roadway in opposite directions, with the Equinox facing east and the Celica facing west. The other two vehicles, which were heavily damaged, were in the middle of the roadway as officials investigated the scene.
The driver of the burgundy Lexus was pronounced dead on scene, Dean said. His identity is being withheld pending positive identification and notification of next of kin.
San Bernardino County Fire Department personnel were requested to transport four injured persons, spokesman Eric Sherwin said. Further updates on their condition weren’t available.
Palmdale Road was closed down in both directions from Cobalt to Cantina roads as officials investigated the crash. Dean said the closure was expected to last until midnight.
