Monessen, PA : One person died in Fayette County on April, Sunday 30th 2017

One person died in Fayette County early Sunday when a pickup truck went off the highway, struck a utility pole and tree and burst into flames.

State police in Uniontown said the crash occurred about 1:45 a.m. along Springfield Pike in Springfield Township.

The county coroner's office was working with state police to identify the driver, whose body could not be readily identified because of its condition.

State police said the driver of the 2011 GMC Sierra with a Pennsylvania license plate lost control while heading west in the 2400 block of Springfield Pike. The truck hit a traffic sign in addition to the pole and tree.

Police said the driver couldn't get out of the truck before it caught fire. Troopers said the coroner's office will have to identify the driver through dental records.
