Tampa, FL : Man causes 3-car crash involving deputy in Hillsborough County on Saturday night, August 20, 2016
A Tampa man was arrested on drunken-driving charges Saturday night after hitting a Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office vehicle in a three-car crash.
A deputy on duty in a Sheriff's Office vehicle was stopped on North 15th Street, just north of Fowler Avenue, about 9:15 p.m. with a second car behind him when Alfredo Rodriguez-Jimenez, 70, hit the second vehicle in the rear, pushing it into the deputy's vehicle, a Sheriff's Office report said.
The deputy was not injured and returned to work, but two adults in the second vehicle were taken to Florida Hospital with minor injuries.
Rodriguez-Jimenez was arrested at the scene on DUI charges. According to an arrest report, his blood alcohol level was 0.180 to 0.182 percent. Florida law presumes impairment with a blood alcohol level at 0.08 percent.
He was being held Sunday at the Hillsborough County Jail on $500 bail.
