Pinon Hills, CA : Motorcyclist dies after rollover crash on Bear Valley and Oasis roads on Wednesday night, April 13, 2016

Authorities said a motorcyclist died after a rollover crash late Wednesday night.
California Highway Patrol officials said in a Thursday news release that a man in a 1992 Harley-Davidson motorcycle was involved in a major injury traffic collision on Bear Valley and Oasis roads late Wednesday. The man was headed west on Bear Valley Road at an unknown rate of speed at 9:43 p.m. Wednesday when the crash occurred.

For reasons still unknown, the man reportedly failed to stop for the stop sign at the intersection of Oasis Road. He continued through the intersection and went off the roadway into an open desert area west of Oasis Road, where the motorcycle began to overturn, officials said. The man was thrown from the motorcycle sometime during the crash and suffered major injuries, including head trauma.

CHP officers and San Bernardino County Fire Department personnel responded and provided CPR to the man until he was taken to Desert Valley Hospital for treatment. However, officials said the man succumbed to his injuries at 11:08 p.m. in the emergency room.

The identity of the man is being withheld pending positive identification and notification of next of kin.

No other injuries were reported.
The Victorville CHP is investigating the crash.
