Man Dies After Accident Involving Horse in North Carolina

A Charlotte, North Carolina man has died from injuries he received after he fell off his horse while horseback riding over the weekend. Ted Johnson, 68, was riding Saturday at the Anne Springs Close Greenway in Fort Mill.Johnson was airlifted by emergency helicopter to Charlotte’ Carolinas Medical Center where he remained in critical condition. According to York County Coroner Sabrina Gast, Johnson passed away from his injuries on Monday night.The North Carolina Medical Examiner’s Office performed an autopsy and stated Johnson died of blunt trauma to the head after falling from a horse, ruling hideath an accident.Emergency Medical Services were summoned to the accident at 11 a.m. on Saturday after Johnson had fallen from his horse, a Tennessee Walking Horse. He was riding in the 2,100 acre nature preserve with two friends.
