The roadways are clear after a fatal hit-and-run crash in Fort Myers had completely shut down a section of Ortiz Road in Fort Myers.

The crash happened at the intersection with North Galaxy Drive.

A car traveling north on Ortiz Road hit and killed a man in the roadway, according to Florida Highway Patrol. The pedestrian was then thrown into a water-filled culvert.

They say the victim was discovered just before 7 a.m. Officers say the body may have been there a while.

The victim has been identified as 31-year-old Diego Reyes-Lopez, of Lehigh Acres.

A possible physical description released by FHP says they're looking for a black or gray 2013 to 2015 Nissan Altima with possible front or right side damage.

Ortiz Road was closed down from Luckett Road to Ballard Road but has since reopened.
