Turnpike, MA : Driver killed in a crash at Westborough on Monday,August 8th,2016
State police on Wednesday identified the driver killed in a crash late Monday night on the Massachusetts Turnpike on the Westboro-Southboro line as Timothy W. Auger.
Mr. Auger, 28, who recently moved to Hudson from his hometown of Rutland, was driving eastbound in the westbound lane on the highway when he hit several cars before crashing head-on with a truck, according to police.An obituary for Mr. Auger posted by Miles Funeral Home says he was a 2006 graduate of Wachusett Regional High School and a 2011 graduate of Worcester State University. He most recently worked at a roofing company in Newtonville.
Mr. Auger leaves behind his parents and sister, as well as other extended family members. Reached at their home Wednesday, the family declined to talk with the Telegram.
“Tim's devotion to his family was the foundation of his actions — the anchor that defined and shaped his life,” the obituary says. “He possessed a true love for life and will be remembered for his engaging personality and ability to make friends wherever he went.”
According to police, the fatal crash occurred shortly before midnight on Monday. Mr. Auger was heading west in the westbound lanes in a 2007 Ford Focus when he pulled into the breakdown lane, made a U-turn, and drove into incoming traffic. He sideswiped one car, collided with another, and finally crashed head-on into a 2010 GMC Terrain, state police said.
Mr. Auger was pronounced dead at the scene. Two of the drivers of the other cars, including the GMC Terrain, were taken to the hospital with serious injuries, as were the three passengers in the Terrain at the time.
