Las Vegas, NV : City teen dies in motorcycle accident on Thursday, 12th September 2019
Christian Stringer, 14, of Cañon City, died Thursday afternoon while vacationing with his family in Las Vegas when the Kawasaki Motocross bike he was driving collided with a truck.
Christian is the son of Lisa Stringer and William Gipson, and Michael Hipszky, and brother of Joseph, Isaac, Sequoia, Jamie and Sarah. He was an avid motorcyclist, and he loved playing football for Cañon City Middle School, where he was an eighth-grade student.
Cañon City Middle School Principal Ken Trujillo said Friday the staff and administration are grateful for the tremendous support that has been offered during this challenging time.
“Christian’s passing has been incredibly difficult for our building, and particularly for the students who knew him and the staff members who worked closely with him,” he said.
Trujillo thanked school district counselors from Cañon City High School: Bill Betts, Tim Ritter and Kerri Kingery; CCHS School Psychologist Megan Mucciolo; SRO Robby Vidmar; Student Peer Counselor Joe Ensley; Harrison Middle School Counselor Nick Sartori; CCMS Counselor Randy Smith; CCMS School Psychologist Katrina Biondo; Dean Horton and the support team from West Central Mental Health; and Sheri Warnock from the CCPD Victims Advocate Department for their support Friday.
“These folks and organizations have provided and will continue to provide, the support that both students and staff need during this difficult time,” he said. “Many thanks for the kindness and the assistance they have provided to all of us.”
An account has been set up at Great Western Bank to help with costs associated with cremation and a memorial. Contributions for “Christian Stringer’s Memorial” may be mailed or dropped off at Great Western Bank, 110 S. Ninth St., Cañon City, CO 81212. Donations after hours may be dropped into the ATM depository in a labeled envelope.
Contributions for the family also may be mailed or dropped off at the Cañon City Daily Record, 701 S. Ninth St.
