Eugene ,OR : Camille Nelson, 32, killed after her truck collided with a school bus on Thursday afternoon ,September 3rd 2015
A woman was killed Thursday afternoon when her truck collided with a school bus on Highway 20 near the Hoodoo ski area at around 2 p.m., according to information from the Oregon State Police.
Camille Nelson, 32, of Wilsonville was driving her 1993 Chevrolet pickup westbound on Highway 20 when it crossed the center line and struck the eastbound-traveling bus. The truck came to rest in the westbound ditch. When emergency crews arrived on scene, Nelson was deceased.
OSP Lt. Bill Fugate said that 43 people were on the school bus, which was from the Eugene area. Only minor injuries were reported to a couple of its occupants.
According to the Eugene School District 4J, the bus was taking the Sheldon High School varsity and junior varsity boys soccer teams to a game in Bend. The Sisters School District sent a school bus and transported the students to Sisters Middle School, where counselors were made available.
Highway 20 was closed for several hours because of the wreckage and investigation. The roads were wet at the time of the crash. OSP was assisted by the Oregon Department of Transportation, Black Butte Police Department and the Camp Sherman Fire Department.
