Logan, UT : Pick up one of two people who were seriously injured in a head-on collision in Logan on April, Thursday 13th 2017
A medical helicopter landed on U.S. Highway 89-91 early Friday evening to pick up one of two people who were seriously injured in a head-on collision in Logan. The other patient was transported by ambulance to Logan Regional Hospital. Both drivers were extricated from their vehicles. While media reports indicate there has been a fatality, Logan Police Capt. Tyson Budge said that information is not confirmed. The crash occurred at 2600 South, near the Dr. Pierce’s barn. Investigators suspect impairment may have been a factor in the crash. According to police, it appears the female driver of a small white car traveling northbound crossed over the median into the southbound lanes where it struck another small car. Late Friday night, Budge said police were preparing search warrants for the female and her car as part of the ongoing investigation. The names of the individuals involved are not being released at this time. The crash, which occurred just before 5 p.m., caused significant traffic delays during the Friday commute out of town. Southbound traffic was diverted onto 1000 West at the Common Cents gas station, while northbound traffic was diverted into Nibley at 2600 South and 3200 South. Part of the reason a closure was required was to create a landing zone for the medical helicopter.
