Huber Heights, OH : Driver in ICU following I-75 crash with semi on Saturday morning, August 6, 2016

The driver of a car that crashed on I-75 Saturday morning is at Miami Valley Hospital with life-threatening injuries, despite initial confirmation that the man had died.

The initial investigation reveals the man was partially ejected from his car when he collided with the side of semi, according to Sgt. Jeff Kramer with the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

“We’re not believing he’ll survive this crash so we’re investigating this as a fatal crash,” Kramer said.
Traffic reconstructionists are on the scene of the crash and two northbound lanes remain closed, according to Kramer.

Alcohol is not suspected to be a factor, but Kramer said the investigation will take time due to the size of the scene.

“This crash kind of started and drug the car along so we’ve got a long debris field and a lot of roadway evidence we’re still looking at,” Kramer said.
According to Kramer, the crash was initially considered a fatal, but once medics arrived they saw potential signs of life.

“In my experience and knowledge it seems to be a non-survivable crash because of the ejection, because the car was in motion during the ejection,” Kramer said.

The male driver was the only person in the car and he was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, according to Kramer.
