Newport News, VA : Car crashes into Hampton on Tuesday, January, 2nd 2018

A car crashed into a Hampton DAV building Tuesday night, sending two people to the hospital, a fire official said.

The crash happened about 7:15 p.m. at the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 6, at 913 Aberdeen Road.

The car crashed with a truck on Aberdeen Road, causing the car to drive into the building, Battalion Chief Jeff Pereira said at the scene.

Two people inside the car were taken to the hospital, but fire officials are not sure if the injuries are life-threatening, Pereira said. The driver of the truck was assessed by medics but was not taken to the hospital, he said.

The building is structurally sound, but it was damaged. Codes and compliance personnel were requested to determine if it will be condemned, he said.
