RANDOLPH, MA : Ambulance crashes on Route 24 in Randolph, injuring 3 on Tuesday, March 21st 2017
Two paramedics and a patient were injured when the ambulance they were in rolled over on the highway Tuesday morning.
The crash occurred about 3:03 a.m. on Route 24 in Randolph, just north of Exit 20 for Route 139.
The preliminary investigation by Trooper Christopher Johnson indicates a 2016 Ford Econline ambulance was driving north when the driver, a 19-year-old Swansea man, "lost control of the vehicle, causing it to roll over and crash," state police Lt. Tom Ryan said.
As a result of the crash, another paramedic and the patient in the ambulance were also injured. Their ages and towns of residence weren't immediately available.
"They were all transported to Boston Medical Center," Ryan said.
Mark Brewster, the president and chief executive officer of Brewster Ambulance, said all the injuries were considered to be minor. One of his paramedics had been released from the hospital by 8 a.m. and another was still admitted at that time.
"They were cut off by another vehicle on Route 24," Brewster told The Enterprise. "Unfortunately, the vehicle that cut it off fled the scene."
