Washington,IL : Man, 93, killed in hit-and-run crash on I-64 near Nashville on January, Friday 5th 2018

A 93-year-old man was fatally injured Friday in a hit-and-run crash on Interstate 64, the Illinois State Police said.

The victim, Ervin H. Goeden, was a passenger in a car driven by Eugene P. Tomasello, 56. Police said another passenger, Patricia A. Goeden, 81, had major injuries. Tomasello wasn't injured. All three were from Omaha.

Police said Tomasello's eastbound vehicle ran off the road and struck a tree after it was hit by another car moving at a high speed about 5 p.m.

The car, which police said may have been a Cadillac STS with a dark window tint, didn't stop and was last seen continuing eastbound on I-64. Police said the car may have some silver paint transfer on the middle or rear passenger side.


Police said the crash occurred when the vehicle with the window tint, traveling behind Tomasello's Toyota in the right lane, moved into the passing lane, then abruptly returned to the right lane and struck the driver's side of Tomasello's car.

Police said the crash took place at milepost 47 near Nashville, Ill.
