Van crash killed 5-month-old baby and two other people injured
Police have charged the driver of a pickup truck that crashed into a van killing an infant just after midnight Saturday.
Police say James O’Bannon drove his pickup truck through a stop sign at 18th and Cedar Streets colliding with a minivan.
O’Bannon is being charged with murder, three counts of assault, two counts of wanton endangerment and driving on a suspended license.
Police say O’Bannon had already had a previous conviction of DUI and he did not have insurance.
Witnesses say both infants, which were twins, were ejected from the vehicle still in their car seats.
Neighbors performed CPR on one of the children until EMS arrived.
5-month-old Avani Ingram was killed in the crash and her twin is currently in serious but stable condition at Kosair Children’s Hospital.
Two other passengers, a 14-year-old and a 15-year-old suffered minor injuries.
