A 55-year-old man died Sunday afternoon in a single-vehicle crash on U.S. 34 in southeastern Weld County.
The crash happened about 4:55 p.m. when the 2003 Saab the man was driving went off the road near mile post 137, which is about 10 miles northwest of Wiggins, or 25 miles southeast of Greeley. When the vehicle went off the road, it rolled. The
man, who was the only occupant of the Saab, was ejected. The man died on the scene, Colorado State Patrol spokesman Trooper Tim Sutherland said.
U.S. 34 was briefly closed after the crash to allow first responders to remove the vehicle.
Authorities were continuing to investigate the crash late Sunday, Sutherland said, and no other information about how the crash happened was immediately available. The man’s name was not released, pending notification of next of kin.
The fatality is the 12th so far this year on Weld County roads. Through this date last year, 29 people had died.
